472 years after the incident of lights, explorers from another land docked near the island’s northernmost point. Dunspar Island was uncharted territory, and most of the vegetation was vastly overgrown. Cutting their way through the vines and thick underbrush, the exploring party traipsed through the dense forests and up the low-rising, crescent-shaped mountain range that separated the northern point from the center of the island. At the peak, the adventuring party gazed upon the overgrown ruins of a lost civilization.
The Ruins were composed of dilapidated stone buildings. A majority of the structures were looked at as rather primitive when compared to the architecture of the current day. A few tablets of a dead language were found in pieces, and some relics of the past could be found in the ruins, but the most startling discovery was not a lost item.
It was a lost spirit of the departed.
Ghosts of the residents of Ganlon were found throughout the ruined city. They described to the explorers the magnificent lights before awakening as spirits. Many of the spirits believe the lights and the trapped states they reside in are a punishment from the old legends. The explorers, confounded by this discovery, opt for a more logical and scientific explanation. Perhaps a natural disaster occurred; however, the likelihood of a natural disaster existing with the power to wipe out an entire civilization while leaving structures to stand is slim.
Years after the discovery, a base camp was established for the explorers. In this camp, the original explorers who discovered the island’s presence established an organization to keep new individuals safe while searching for answers in the decaying ruins.
